Treating addiction can be a very difficult issue and one that has so many different ways in which it can be treated. There is so many ways in which someone can be treated for there addiction anywhere from in-patient treatment, out-patient treatment, no treatment center at all, A.A. (Alcoholics Anonymous), N.A. (Narcotics Anonymous), S.A (Sex Anonymous), etc. But in all of these different ways, they all have one thing in common and that is AA = Absolute Abstinence! For without being completely abstinent from whatever is ailing you nothing else will work.
My own personal treatment has had a variety of ways in which I have finally began a road to recovery. I was first introduced to the Program of AA in 1996 by a 17 year old kid. I had never heard of the Program before that time. Since that year, I never went back into those rooms until the year of 2002, in which I finally had come to realize that I lived in such a world of Denial that I needed to face not only my problem with the drugs, but with myself as well. However I never really did face the Denial about myself until I got clean on May 25, 2006. I am very grateful today to know that I have finally taken a look inside of myself and very happy with who I am developing to be today.
My treatment from my addiction has been not only the 12 Step Programs which have helped a lot, but I have also had the privilege of being in Out-Patient Treatment! I have graduated from that Program that was offered to me as a way and a means to recovery. I learned many things during my time there and am really grateful for the knowledge that they have to offer us addicts as a ways and a means to get clean and also to learn how to live clean without the use of drugs.
During my stay there they offered what they called a Phase Class which I did participate in which was a course of books broken down into a Eight week period, one book for each week. Today I still have those books, and every now and than I will reach in and grab one and take a look over the material that I have. It is a lot of that material today that keeps me headed in the direction in which I am on.
I know today that we have to treat our condition everyday. We learn how to do that by any means that is available to us. One of those means today for so many of us is the most informed area in the world that that is the Internet. That is why we come here to help us all to learn more about not only the illness, or situation that we have but also looking and seeking out the information for the solutions that are available to anyone who wants to learn a new way to live life without the use of drugs and alcohol, or anything else that might be a problem for us. That is the miracle of TREATMENT it works in all areas of our lives, once we get pass the stage of the Denial that kept us wrapped up for so long. Today We don't have to live in that world of Denial and today we can set ourselves free from whatever the Problem is.
